Late touchdown, last-minute stand secures win for Vegas

After losing back-to-back games the Vegas Knight Hawks got back to their winning ways as they took a, 35 - 28, victory over the San Antonio Gunslingers Saturday, April 26.

This was the best performance from the Knight Hawks’ defense to date as the 28 points allowed was a season-low. It made a late stand to essentially close out the game in the redzone with under a minute left in regulation.

The team will be back at home next Saturday, as they will take on the Northern Arizona Wranglers at Lee’s Family Forum. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

While Northern Arizona has started the season 0-4, the 2-2 Knight Hawks can not take them lightly as both games played last season were tightly-contested.

First-year Knight Hawk Jayden De Laura saw his first start of the season at quarterback. He ended the game with a total of three touchdowns through the air.

Receiver Quentin Randolph caught one of those three touchdowns and ran for another which came at crucial points within the game. His first score came early in the first quarter as he ran one in to give Vegas an early lead.

Randolph’s second score came with 14:43 left in the fourth quarter to give the Knight Hawks a 27 -21 lead.

Receiver CJ Windham and running back Antonio Wimbush saw the end zone as well as they both had a touchdown through the air and on the ground respectively.

The most important touchdown came late in the fourth quarter when receiver Tamorrion Terry caught a touchdown which would ultimately win the game for Vegas. The team went on to complete a two-point conversion which gave them the 35 - 28 point lead.
